Vequest AS

Establishing horse business in Norway

Situated at the beautiful farm Semb Hovedgård in Norway, you find the professional company Vequest AS. The large farm is owned by Einar Nagell-Erichsen and contains no less than a 1400 meter racetrack, soundproof indoor arena, rubber footing in the stables and large grass fields where the horses stay the whole day. The Swedish trainer and rider Veronica Öhrling moved to the farm in September 2020 with her husband and five year-old daughter. In Sweden, she had established a riding center with a large number of regular students. Now she is trying to establish a similar training business combined with a sales stable with top quality young show jumping horses in Norway.

After several years of hard work in top professional stables around Europe, she has accumulated competency from top-level trainers like Henk Nooren and Peder Fredricson. She conducted her trainer degree from Flyinge while living in Belgium and working at professional stables. Since the age of 16, she has made her living in the horse business, training students, breaking in horses, training top competition horses and selling quality horses for show jumping.

Vequest organizes with Mosson Stable

Today at Semb Hovedgård in Horten, Vequest rents out boxes to boarders and offers training of riders while having a sales and training stable. A cooperation with the owner Nagell-Erichsen has led to Vequest also having racehorses in pre training. The stable has connections to a broad number of people on a daily basis and they all use the digital solution Mosson Stable, to organize and plan everything around the horses and the stable. The coordination of the stable is available in Mosson Stable for helpers, riders, owners and service providers. The app takes the organization to a next level where helpers feel involved, service providers are more prepared, boarders are informed about things coming up and the plan for the horses and the stable is clear for everyone involved. The lists, tasks and observations are regularly used and give everyone updates and overviews.

Mosson Stable contributes to collectivism

Öhrling says that Mosson Stable helps Vequest involving everyone as a team. The equestrian sport can be quite individual and even lonely. Most stables leave their boarders to their own, which leads to a highly individualistic culture where each owner minds their own business setting up a training schedule for their horse, planning the next shows, clinics, booking a farrier, chiropractor or a veterinarian. Öhrling says that Mosson Stable helps her stable become more collectivistic. People in the stable do not need to be best friends to be more involved in each other’s horses. With Mosson Stable, everyone can see when someone has booked a chiropractor, a saddle fitter or is planning to hack out or go to the racetrack.

My stable is full of people who are involved and care about each other and all the horses here. Having Mosson Stable is definitely helping me keep a culture where we help and care about each other. I think the Mosson Stable app can help more stables become collectivistic with a system like this, she says.

Mosson Stable shows what happens in the indoor arena

Vequest AS will never close the indoor arena, but they have a list in Mosson Stable that shows when something special is planned. In this way, they give each other a heads up to show respect. For example when a client comes to look at a horse, a jumping or dressage lesson. When the jumping people see there is a dressage lesson planned, they will not add more poles to the arena that day. Additionally, volunteers connected to the stable can see when there is something planned in the indoor. Sandra, a girl who comes regularly to help out, no longer needs to ask when the jumping lessons are planned. She sees what is planned in the app and feels involved.

Farriers list

All the boarders use the list for the farrier. The farrier is connected to Mosson Stable as well, and can see which horses to do and who to invoice. There are many different owners at Vequest. Therefore, the overview of who to send the invoice is saving Öhrling a lot of time.

Changes in the stable

Vequest AS has different people helping with feeding and letting the horses out. With Mosson Stable, all the information they need is in the app. Which paddocks, which blanket and what to feed the horses. If something changes from the normal routines, the information will be in Mosson Stable.

Away from home training / events

Vequest AS has a list that shows when someone has a planned show or training away from home. This gives everyone a chance to come along with their horse or without, just as company.

Visitors

There is a list in Mosson Stable for visitors to the stable. This can be the saddle fitter, a chiropractor etc. The list gives everyone a chance to join with his or her horse, when the service provider is already at the stable.
