Are you like me? Not always a first mover

Digitization has gradually become something a lot of people talk about. But are you sure of what it means and why it is so important?

I will in several blogs share my thoughts on this hot topic: digitization, as this is what I work with and have high interest in.

I hope you will read along.

For the past 6 years, I have spent almost all my waking hours in Mosson working on digitization in a very special and ‘unexplored-within-digitization’-industry; The Horse industry!

My background is in healthcare technology – i.e. analysis and development of technologies in the healthcare sector. This industry is today almost ‘over-digitized’ as SO many different solutions are used in this industry (which in themselves can be great). Digital solutions that is not widely integrated and often only focus on supporting individual parts of the workflows. This creates a whole new type of hassle (for both patients / citizens and healthcare professionals) and does not create efficient workflows, which is really the whole point of it all.

In my view, digitization must create value and make things easier – otherwise it does not make sense to deal with at all.

For me the most important thing is that, it is very clear what you get out of digitizing a specific industry or area – for God’s sake you should not just do it for the sake of it. It is not sufficient reason to start just because we are in 2022.

Back to the horse industry

The topic of this blog is my wonder why everyone who owns their own horse or works with horses does not just jump in and use Mosson’s solutions, when it is so obvious that it would make life so much easier.

I can only see the benefits and no disadvantages of going down this digital path. A pure win-win situation !

Most people in the horse industry are top-digital in their private lives, i.e. super confident in using digital tools – both on mobile phones, tablets and PC with various software programs and apps, but also to use sensor technologies and various high-tech measuring devices.

But in terms of digitizing in workplaces in the horse industry or in their own private stables, we experience in Mosson that many have not taken action to digitize some of the places where it really can bring value, for both all people involved and for the horse’s well-being and performance (and for the economy)

We often ask our existing customers and users of Mosson why they use the solution, and when we sum up their answers it is very much the same thing they say (and it is whether it is our private customer Trine Harpsøe or whether it is at Helgstrand Dressage) : They use it to keep better track of everything around the horses, to gather all info in one place about the individual horse – and communicate more easily (and better) in the team.

Our existing users often spontaneously tell us; that everyone who have horses should use Mosson!

And then again, I think – why is it really that not everyone is doing this yet?

Now the opportunity exists – we have made the ‘gadget’.

The ‘gadget’ that works for the purpose and everyone who uses it today loves it – and will reluctantly exchange ‘back’ to the whiteboard, the paper notes, the Messenger / sms / What’s App threads from hell, when something must be coordinated or agreed in relation to the work in the stable and about the horses.

Right now, I think most people in the industry are in the phase, exactly as you probably remember it, when you doubted using online banking and paying bills on the internet or whether you should use a payment app or online identification apps.

Now we no longer question whether this is the way forward – we have changed our ‘normal’ and experience that life is easier with these solutions.

I recognize it well from myself; often when I finally decide and takes action to take a new solution or app in use, I think “Ohh why did I not do this before – it is both easy and convenient and could have saved me a lot of time I could have spent on something better!”

Right now, we’re spending our time in Mosson getting our existing customers and users to show and tell what they experience as value from Mosson Stable. We wish to share their experiences and opinions, instead of you hearing it from me or someone else in Mosson.

It usually works better on myself when I in the process of choosing a new technology, a solution, or an app; to have it recommended by someone I know, or I can relate to in relation to my needs.

Then I listen to them and become convinced faster that it will be good for me to do the same.

Actually, this may be my own biggest barrier; that I often do not want (I don’t prioritize:) to spend a particularly long time researching the advantages / disadvantages of a new solution and make my own assessment – but I wait for others to say, “Hey! Julie – this really seems good!”

Then I quickly become convinced and jump right in and get started – and get happy about it… and think again “why did I not do this earlier”

When I talk about digitization in the horse industry – I’m talking about that, we in Mosson have a dedicated focus on making the horse industry’s traditional handling of lack of communication and documentation a thing of the past.

It’s time for new and better stable habits/routines and ways to ensure quality and profit – both for the people involved and for the horses, and economically in the individual stable.

In Mosson, we want to contribute to the development of the horse industry, and we do this by providing our solutions:

Better horse health and welfare as well as better economy.

Just like that – Non the less !

Er det bare mig eller er du heller ikke altid firstmover?

Digitalisering er efterhånden blevet noget mange taler om. Men er du egentlig sikker på, hvad det betyder, og hvorfor det er så vigtigt? 

Jeg vil igennem den næste tid dele mine tanker omkring dette hotte emne: digitalisering, da det er dét jeg arbejder med og interesserer mig rigtig meget for. 

Jeg håber du vil læse med. 

De sidste 6 år har jeg brugt næsten alle mine vågne timer i Mosson, hvor vi arbejder med digitalisering i en helt speciel og ’uudforsket-indenfor-det-digitale’ branche; Hestebranchen!

Min baggrund er indenfor sundhedsteknologi – dvs. analyse og udvikling af teknologier inden for sundhedsvæsnet. Denne branche er efterhånden næsten ’overdigitaliseret’ i form af, at der i denne branche i dag bliver brugt SÅ mange forskellige løsninger (som i sig selv kan være smarte), men som ikke taler eller integrerer sammen på kryds og tværs, og ofte kun fokuserer på at understøtte enkelte dele af arbejdsgangene og ikke favner alle. Det giver en helt ny type af bøvl (for både patienter/borgere og sundhedspersonale) og skaber ikke effektive arbejdsgange – og det var jo egentlig meningen med det hele. 

I min optik skal digitalisering skabe værdi og gøre ting lettere – ellers giver det ikke mening at beskæftige sig med. 

Så for mig er det vigtigste, at det er meget tydeligt hvad man får ud af at digitalisere i en konkret branche eller et område – man skal for gud skyld ikke bare gøre det for at gøre det, fordi man tænker at det bør man her i 2022.

Tilbage til hestebranchen

Emnet i denne blog er min undren over, hvorfor alle der har egen hest eller arbejder med heste, ikke bare springer på og anvender Mosson’s løsninger, når nu det er så indlysende, at det ville gøre livet så meget lettere.
Jeg kan kun få øje på fordelene og ingen hager ved at gå denne digitale vej. En ren win-win tænker jeg.

De fleste mennesker i hestebranchen er i deres private liv top-digitale, dvs. super vante til at anvende digitale redskaber – både på mobil, tablet og pc med forskellige softwareprogrammer og apps, men også at anvende sensorteknologier og forskellige højteknologiske måleenheder.

Men i forhold til at digitalisere på arbejdspladser i hestebranchen eller i egne private stalde, oplever vi i Mosson, at mange ikke har taget handling på at digitalisere nogle af de steder, hvor det virkelig kan bringe værdi, for både alle mennesker involverede og for hestenes trivsel og performance (og for økonomien)

Vi spørger ofte vores eksisterende kunder og brugere af Mosson, hvorfor de anvender løsningen, og koger vi budskaberne i deres svar ind – så er det rigtig meget det samme de siger (og det er uanset om det er vores private kunde Trine Harpsøe eller om det er hos Helgstrand Dressage) : at det er for at holde bedre styr på alt omkring hestene, at samle al info ét sted om den enkelte hest – og kommunikere lettere (og bedre) i teamet.

Vores eksisterende brugere siger ofte spontant til os; at alle der har heste burde da bruge Mosson ! 

Og så tænker jeg igen over hvorfor er det egentligt er, at alle ikke gør det endnu ?

Nu findes muligheden jo – vi har lavet ’dimsen’.

Dimsen der virker til formålet og alle der anvender den i dag elsker den – og vil nødigt bytte ’tilbage’ til whiteboardet, papirnoterne, Messenger/sms/What’s App trådene from hell, når noget skal koordineres eller aftales ift. arbejdet i stalden og om hestene.

Lige nu er mit bud, at det er præcist som du nok kan huske det, da du tvivlede på at anvende netbank og betale regninger på internettet eller om du skulle anvende en betalingsapp eller bankID. 

Nu stiller vi ikke længere spørgsmål ved om dette er vejen frem – vi har rykket vores ’normal’ og oplever at livet er lettere med disse løsninger. 

Jeg kan virkelig godt genkende det fra mig selv; at ofte når jeg endelig får taget mig sammen til at tage en ny løsning eller app i brug, tænker jeg ”hvorfor filan gjorde jeg ikke det tidligere –  det er jo både nemt og praktisk og havde sparet mig en masse tid, jeg kunne have brugt på noget bedre! ”  

Lige nu bruger vi vores tid i Mosson til at få vores eksisterende kunder og brugere til at sætte ord på hvad de oplever af værdi – så vi kan dele deres budskaber, i stedet for at du skal høre det fra mig eller en anden fra Mosson.

Det virker normalt bedst på mig når jeg skal vælge en ny teknologi, en løsning eller en app; at få den anbefalet af nogle jeg kender eller jeg kan relatere til ift. mine behov.
Så lytter jeg til dem og bliver hurtigere overbevist indeni, at det også kan være godt for mig at gøre det samme.

Måske det faktisk er min egen største barriere; at jeg ofte ikke vil (orker:) bruge særlig lang tid på at afsøge fordele/ulemper ved en ny løsning og lave min egen vurdering – men jeg venter på at andre siger, ”Hey ! Julie – det virker skide godt det her !”
Så bliver jeg hurtigt overbevist og hopper med på vognen – og bliver glad for det … og tænker igen ”hvorfor gjorde jeg ikke det tidligere ” 

Når jeg taler om digitalisering af hestebranchenså taler jeg om, at det vi arbejder med i Mosson, er at gøre hestebranchens traditionelle håndtering af manglende kommunikation og dokumentation til fortid. 

Det er tid til nye og bedre staldvaner og måder at sikre kvalitet og overskud – både for menneskene involveret og for hestene, og økonomisk i den enkelte stald.

Vi vil i Mosson bidrage til udviklingen af ​​hestebranchen og det gør vi ved at vores løsninger giver;

Bedre hestesundhed og velfærd samt bedre økonomi.
